Heres what the hospital tells a patient to do when they have severe neck pain.

I suppose it's too much to ask or expect them to make a referral to a chiropractor?!

With 3 adjustments in 5 days we decreased the pain 80-90% and brought this patient back to almost normal activities instead of having her wait "to see if it would go away on it's own". This is a very normal response from a hospital when the xrays show no fractures or pathologies. Just because there are no osseous problems (bones) doesn't mean the patient is fine. As chiropractors we deal with the alignment, bio mechanics, nerves, muscles and surrounding soft tissue. Our next evolution of health care needs to have better interaction with all alternative care practitioners.
